Rare Animal Derails Ed Sheeran's Wedding Plans

A rare animal has derailed Ed Sheeran's wedding plans.

Ed Sheeran is engaged to be married to his long-time steady girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, who is shown in this photo with him. Ed popped the question in late December 2017 and the couple started making wedding plans for a springtime wedding.

Sheeran is delighted that they are getting married since they have known each other since they were kids. Sheeran has been quoted saying “Music should make you fall in love and make you happy.” He dreams of a time when he can live with his wife in the countryside, have lots of kids, and enjoy his family. His perfect life would be writing songs all day and then going to school to pick up his kids.

Noisey Vice reports that the plans for the nuptial affair, were to build a wedding chapel in the back garden on Sheeran’s property He wants everything to be perfect and have a private intimate setting at his own home.

Remember the part of the traditional wedding vows where the preacher says, “If anyone has any reason why this marriage should not go forward, let them speak now or forever hold their peace,”? Well, someone spoke up. It was the authorities. During the building permitting process, they discovered a rare breed of animal on the property called the great crested newt. These newts are a protected species. For Americans, these creatures are called salamanders. All newts are salamanders; however, all salamanders are not necessarily newts. Got it? Or did you fall asleep in that part of biology class?

Now, scientists are all over Sheeran’s property looking for these things. If they cannot be moved successfully without harming them, then the building permit will not be approved. For most people tastes; these are ugly little buggers. However, species protection also covers the ugly ones. Sheeran put his legal team on the case. There now has to be an ecological plan put in place to make sure none of the newts will suffer.

In the U.K., when these giant crested newts are found on a construction project, they usually halt the project. Hopefully, Sheeran’s dreams of an idyllic picturesque country lifestyle are not now destroyed by waking up in the middle of the night from recurring nightmares of Godzilla, the bigger cousin of these little monsters.
